State of U.S. Remote Work

  • 48 Million U.S. full-time employees hold remote compatible jobs

  • 45% of U.S. full-time employees hold remote compatible jobs

  • 82% of U.S. full-time employees want to work remotely at least part of the time

Employers

If all U.S. full-time employees who hold remote compatible jobs worked remote an average of half a work

  • Employers would save $528 Billion, approximately the GDP of Sweden, Belgium, or Poland

  • Employers would save $11k per employee

  • Employers would save $11M per 1,000 employees 

  • There is 25% less turnover in companies that offer remote work options to employees than in companies that do not offer remote work options

  • 33% percent of employees are willing to take a 5% pay cut for remote work options

  • 10% of employees would take a 10% pay cut for remote work options 

Employees

If all U.S. full-time employees who hold remote compatible jobs worked remote an average of half a work

  • Employees would save $149B collectively per year

  • Employees would save $3k per person per year

  • Employees would save a collective 670M days worth of time that would otherwise be spent in traffic

  • Employees would save per person 14 days worth of time that would otherwise be spent in traffic 

  • 54% of remote workers report eating healthier when working remote

  • 77% of remote workers report better work/life balance

  • 48% of remote workers report exercising more when working remotely
