Yellowstone National Park, established on March 1, 1872, holds the distinction of being the first-ever national park, offering a vast expanse of 2.2 million acres. This iconic park boasts unparalleled hydrothermal and geologic features, providing visitors with a chance to witness wildlife in its natural habitat, explore geothermal areas with half the world's active geysers, and marvel at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. Nestled in breathtaking landscapes with pristine lakes and hiking trails, Yellowstone beckons adventurers seeking an unparalleled experience with nature.

To access the North Entrance, travel south on Route 89 through the scenic Paradise Valley, a prelude to the wonders within the park. The drive is about 42 miles from Wander Yellowstone Valley. You can find additional details about entry passes, closures, and hiking trails on the National Park Service website: https://www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm

Before embarking on your Yellowstone adventure, make a pit stop in the charming town of Gardiner, Montana, offering a range of shops from art galleries to sporting goods and a sweet shop. If you are looking for a place to eat, stop by the Wonderland Cafe, centrally located in downtown Gardiner and highly recommended by locals, it is a versatile establishment combining a restaurant, bakery, coffee house, and lounge. Known for its locally-sourced, seasonally inspired menu, Wonderland Cafe is a "Green Certified" restaurant, committed to sustainability and the Farm to Table movement, offering fresh, homemade baked goods, salads, soups, and more.

As you near the park you will pass through the Roosevelt Arch (2819 US-89, Gardiner, MT 59030), named after Theodore Roosevelt, who was present during its construction. But, instead of just driving through, take a moment to park and walk through the door, offering a unique opportunity to stop and gaze up into the majestic arch.
