Blueberry Dunes Family Retreat
Blueberry Dunes is a dog-friendly family retreat perfect for fun times and lasting memories. Enjoy a 1940s beach cottage completely renovated with that goal in mind. Blueberry Dunes efficiently accommodates large groups and provides lots of fun indoor and outdoor activities, all within 300 steps to the beautiful oceanfront and just two miles from fun-filled downtown Fernandina Beach with its many fine restaurants, art galleries, great shopping, waterfront docks, historic architecture, bus and boat tours, mini-golf and much more.
Blueberry Dunes has plenty of sleeping options for your party, from the 4 BR, 4-bath main house to the fully renovated pool house. Outdoor activities include a 15’ x 30’ foot pool surrounded by a 1200sf area paved with cool touch pavers and with plenty of seating, a hot/cold water shower, and an adjacent fire pit with plenty of seating for a fun family gathering in the evenings. We are creating a sandy volleyball or badminton area for outdoor fun. With two natural gas grills, enjoy a family cookout on the large 12’ x 23’ second-story ocean-facing deck with distant ocean views, or bring your cookout to the 1200sft pool deck with its gas grill.
Relax and cool down in the heated and cooled pool house with two sliding doors leading out to the pool deck. The pool house has a full bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen with a large refrigerator, gas oven, and stackable W/D. Currently, a Queen bed is set up in the pool house. Future renovation will turn the loft into an additional sleeping/hang-out area (it is currently closed off). Also in the pool house are a foosball and ping pong table, a sitting area, and a 50” flat screen T.V. Pool house floors are finished concrete, so don’t worry about wet sandy feet, but be careful as the floors are slippery with only socks, on.
In the main house, for efficiency, we gave each bedroom its efficient full bathroom with a 32” x 48” shower. Three bedrooms have king beds, and one has a queen/twin bunk bed with a twin trundle. The approximate square footage of the main house is 1650sf, and the pool house is approximately 520sft. All four bedrooms have 32” wall-mounted TVs. The upstairs living room has a 50” TV and a large sectional couch that turns into a King bed. Downstairs is a seating area with a 65” TV, washer/dryer, and kitchenette/wet bar. Downstairs floors are decorative concrete tiles with a finish coating that is also very slippery with only socks on, so be careful. Our doggie’s feet slide out from under her as she runs down the stairs.
Blueberry Dunes has high-speed internet, cable TV with Xfinity, 100+ channels, and many board games for family game nights. The pool has a convertible basketball/volleyball set, a large outdoor poolside connect four board, a bocci ball set, and a bag toss cornhole set, as well as plenty of floating options.
