Chalet Riviere

Chalet Rivière is a spacious Mt. Hood retreat for families and groups, with four bedrooms, room for 12, a private hot tub, game room, three fireplaces and a fully fenced yard. Tucked among the evergreens in Rhododendron's Timberline Rim neighborhood, it has the feel of a classic mountain lodge with a newly remodeled kitchen and updated bathrooms.

LIVING & GATHERING

The main living room is the heart of the house, with soaring wood-beamed ceilings, comfortable leather seating and a wood-burning fireplace. French doors open toward the wraparound deck and surrounding trees.

There are two large HD TVs in the home, along with a Bluetooth sound system, so there's plenty of room for everyone to spread out.

KITCHEN & DINING

The newly remodeled kitchen was designed with groups in mind. It has an induction cooktop, stainless-steel oven, dishwasher, microwave, full-size refrigerator and freezer, plus a separate beverage fridge.

You'll also find a dedicated coffee bar, kettle, blender, rice maker, toaster, cookware, baking supplies, wine glasses, children's dishes and plenty of dinnerware for a full house. There are even two types of ice.

The large dining table gives everyone a place to sit together for dinner, breakfast before heading up the mountain, or a late-night game.

BEDROOMS

Chalet Rivière sleeps up to 12 in four distinct bedrooms:

• Primary Suite: King bed, private fireplace, walk-in closet, dedicated workstation and French doors opening to the balcony. The newly remodeled ensuite bathroom has a large double shower with two shower heads and a bidet.

• Mountain Suite: King bed with views into the surrounding trees.

• Elk Suite: Queen bed with its own personality, including the elk wallpaper that gave the room its name.

• Bigfoot's Hideaway: One Queen bed plus four Twin XL beds. This third-floor bunk room is a great setup for kids, teenagers or friends sharing the house and also has balcony access.

In addition to the primary ensuite, there is a second full bathroom for the rest of the house.

GAME ROOM

The game room is one of the reasons Chalet Rivière works so well for groups. There's a ping pong table, classic arcade games, board games, a TV and a comfortable couch for hanging out between rounds.

It's also a pretty good insurance policy for those rainy Oregon afternoons when your hiking plans don't cooperate.

OUTDOOR SPACE

After a day skiing, hiking or exploring Mt. Hood, the private hot tub is waiting under the twinkling deck lights.

The large wraparound deck has outdoor seating, dining space and a BBQ grill, while the firepit gives everyone another place to gather in the evening.

The backyard is fully fenced, which is especially convenient if you're bringing a dog. Chalet Rivière is dog-friendly.

THE RIVER & TIMBERLINE RIM

A small sandy beach along the Sandy River is within walking distance of the house—one of our favorite features during the warmer months.

Guests also have access to Timberline Rim's community swimming pool and tennis/pickleball court. The pool is seasonal and typically operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day, although opening and closing dates are determined by the HOA and weather.

You'll be close to the restaurants and shops in Welches and Zigzag, with Government Camp, Mt. Hood Skibowl, Timberline Lodge, hiking trails and other Mt. Hood adventures an easy drive up Highway 26.
