A car is strongly recommended for exploring Maui, and worth every penny. The island's best experiences (Road to Hana, Haleakala sunrise, West Maui coastline) require one. Kahului Airport is 18 minutes from the loft, and most major rental companies are on-site there. Book in advance, especially in peak season.

That said, you won't need a car just to enjoy your stay. The loft is walking distance to Kalepolepo and Waipu'ilani beaches, and three shopping centers are within a mile for groceries, coffee, and dining. Monsoon India is directly across the street.

For two-wheel exploring, bike and scooter rentals are available nearby in Kihei. The Maui Bus serves South Maui if you prefer not to drive, though schedules are limited compared to the mainland.

South Maui's main strip (Kihei Road) is bike and pedestrian-friendly for day-to-day errands. For everything else; Lahaina, Paia, Upcountry, you'll want wheels.
