Casa Cénit takes its name from the sun’s highest point in the sky: the moment of greatest clarity, when light falls directly and precisely onto a space.

From its conception, the project was shaped around a light canopy designed so that natural light would do more than enter the home — it would define its atmosphere.

Here, light is not an effect; it is a building element. It shapes materials, reveals proportions, and organizes the experience of living in the space. Cénit is a minimalist, bold, and contemporary name, aligned with an architectural vision that celebrates materiality, negative space, and the sensory dimension of architecture.

The project draws inspiration from the essential principles of colonial homes in Mérida’s historic center — substantial walls, interior courtyards, natural ventilation, and a constant interplay of light and shadow — reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens for the urban setting of Roma Norte.
