Discover the Northwoods from Sunrise to Sunset
Escape to a place where the wild is both rugged and refined—immerse yourself in the landscapes of the Northwoods and the stunning beauty of Lake Superior. Here, you can unplug and unwind on a bedrock shoreline that’s ideal for all ages. Spend time basking on the sunny deck, skipping rocks, building fires on the rocks or in the fireplace, or watching a mesmerizing summer lightning storm over the lake. Explore nearby Split Rock and Gooseberry Falls State Parks, bike or snowshoe on scenic trails, sample local brews, savor smoked fish, and enjoy picking wild raspberries right on the property.
This spacious cabin offers an inviting retreat with vaulted ceilings and breathtaking lake views from every window. Cozy bedrooms are tastefully decorated, with secluded, restful spaces that include both lake vistas and thoughtful art. Additional sleeping options include a single bed in a hall nook and a fold-out couch in the living room. The fully stocked kitchen features granite countertops, a full-size refrigerator, electric stove, bar seating, and a six-person dining table. The bathroom is equipped with grab bars for added safety, and the large deck is perfect for watching sunrises, moonrises, and seasonal changes across the lake.
Access and Amenities
Guests have access to all areas of the cabin except for the utility room and owner’s closet. While the attached rustic A-frame cabin is off-limits, guests are welcome to enjoy the entire front deck. There’s also a vintage trolley car on the upper property, with a lawn area in front—ideal for playing ball or pitching a tent.
Location and Surroundings
Nestled in a secluded spot along Lake Superior’s North Shore, our cabin offers a serene escape. While neighbors are located to the north and south, they are a comfortable distance away and not visible in summer months. Access is via a quarter-mile road off MN Highway 61, which takes you to many state parks, scenic hikes, and charming towns along the North Shore. The cabin is located between Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock State Parks, two of Minnesota’s most visited attractions. In winter, a 4WD vehicle is recommended for the potentially snowy or slippery road conditions.
Wildlife and Nature
Expect frequent visits from local wildlife: deer, seagulls, and hummingbirds are often spotted on the property, while loons, ducks, and geese can be seen on the lake. With luck, you might even catch a glimpse of a bald eagle! Be prepared for summer’s mosquitoes and flies, and for cold temperatures in winter. The lake is chilly year-round, and the rocky shore can be slippery, so please keep a close eye on small children.
