Welcome to your Adirondack getaway! Nestled on a private one-acre lot with stunning views of the Adirondack Mountains, the "Adirondack House" sits directly between Mirror Lake and Lake Placid and is just a stroll away from the shops and restaurants of Lake Placid's charming Main Street and the Olympic Village. It's also just minutes away from a host of outdoor activities from skiing to boating and everything in between.
This colonial revival home is a unique part of Lake Placid history. Built in the early 1900's and located on the land once owned by the Steven's brothers (Lake Placid's first hoteliers), the home was renovated in 2021. While retaining a number of exquisite historic details, from the maple hardwood floors laid by George Stevens himself to its Roman Doric columns, hand-carved beams, stone patios, and balconies, the newly remodeled home is both spacious and comfortable as well as offers a host of modern amenities, including a large gourmet kitchen, wine fridge, TVs in every bedroom, WiFi throughout the house, and a game room with poker table, dart board and more!
☆☆ BEDROOMS ☆☆
Each bedroom has a unique theme and corresponding name, allowing guests to find the designer bedroom that suits their personal style. All of the bedrooms have new mattresses and flat-screen TVs.
The Wilmington Room is the master suite and has a King bed, stone fireplace, hardwood floors, gorgeous handcrafted furniture, and large windows.
The Victoria Room and Brookside Room combine vintage finishes with modern furniture, and both have Queen beds.
The Empire Room is a cozy space that gets a lot of light, and the Look Out Below Room features classic accent pieces, high-end linens, and vintage furniture.
The Coyote Cut Room is located upstairs and has original hardwood floors, three beds, decorative light fixtures, a plush area rug, locally inspired artwork, and a seamless blend of metal, wood, and other earthy elements.
☆☆ BATHROOMS ☆☆
While every room in the house has been modernized, the four and a half bathrooms give guests a peek into some of the charming original features of the home. All the bathrooms feature deep soaking tubs, intricate tile work, and pedestal-style sinks. The vintage-inspired bathrooms are simple yet elegant and are spread throughout the home for easy access.
☆☆ KITCHEN ☆☆
The beautiful, spacious kitchen features sleek hardwood floors, granite countertops, custom cabinets, and a layout designed for a busy family. A window above the large sink looks out over the backyard, and a whisper-quiet dishwasher makes cleaning up after dinner a breeze.
The cabinets and drawers are stocked with utensils and you'll find everyday essentials including a coffee pot, blender, toaster, spice rack, gourmet knife set, wine glasses, and more. The kitchen also has a dedicated wine bar with glasses, a wine cooler, and specialty tableware.
The dining room is surrounded by windows and fills with sunlight in the afternoons. Here, your whole family can sit together and enjoy takeout from the restaurant down the street or a family-style homemade meal. When you're not eating together, this is also a comfortable place to open up your laptops, connect to the WiFi, and get some work done before heading out to the lake. The dining room features seating for six under a modern light fixture, and small details like vintage furniture and houseplants complete the room.
A sunny breakfast nook is tucked off the kitchen with a round wooden table and seating for four. It is a great spot to enjoy breakfast before a long hike or play board games and cards at the end of the day.
☆☆ LOUNGE ☆☆
The living room effortlessly combines modern style with vintage appeal. It features earthy color tones, leather furniture, vintage-inspired armchairs, original hardwood floors, and a beautiful central fireplace.
The sunroom doubles as an office and looks out over the vast backyard. Surrounded by windows, this sunny room features antique furniture, and a comfortable couch that pulls out into a queen-size bed. If you're mixing business with pleasure on your vacation to Lake Placid, this home office is the perfect place to be productive.
Downstairs, the basement has been completely transformed into a family-friendly recreation room. Complete with a ping pong table, lounge furniture, poker table, books, movies, board games, and a flat-screen TV, this family game room will bring everybody together.
☆☆ OUTSIDE SPACE ☆☆
This house sits on a large lot overlooking the Adirondack mountains in the distance. There are multiple patio and deck spaces to enjoy. The home is surrounded by mature shade trees and is close to neighborhood parks and hiking trails.
