Kolina at the High Bluffs

High Bluffs sits near the top of the slope on the Kohala Coast, where the 17th fairway of Hapuna Golf Course falls away toward open water. Kolina at the High Bluffs holds that edge across 5,233 square feet, its rooms arranged around a koi pond that runs the length of the great room. Most of the main level opens to the lanai, so the room, the pond, and the fairway run together into one long view of the water.

Great Room and Dining
Retractable glass runs the length of the main room, and when the panels slide back the pitched timber ceiling is what holds the space together, dark and high over floors that carry straight out to the lanai. The long table sits where the room turns toward the water, and a rounder one near the kitchen takes the overflow. Four ensuite bedrooms and two gathering rooms mean a group of 10 can be apart without leaving the house.

The Kitchen
The kitchen faces the same direction as everything else. Granite counters wrap a center island with stools along one side, and the window above the sink frames the fairway with the water behind it. Two people can cook without negotiating for counter space, which matters when the house sleeps 10.

Pond, Pool, and Lanai
Outside, the property terraces down the slope in stages. Closest to the house, the koi pond runs stone-edged along the glass, with the fish visible from inside. Below it the lagoon-style pool holds the longer view, its far edge lining up with the fairway and then the ocean. A covered lanai runs the length of the house. Loungers take one end, a full table the other, and the outdoor bar takes over once the light turns.

Game Room, Entertainment Room, Office
The game room is built around a pool table, with a sleeper sofa along the wall that brings the sleeping count to 10. Next door, the entertainment room runs darker on purpose: deep seating, built-in shelves, a screen. The office has a door that closes.

Mauna Kea Resort Access
Mauna Kea Resort sells amenity passes separately. It covers beach and pool access, golf, tennis, and the fitness centers, with charging privileges at the hotels. This Kohala Coast vacation home sits between the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and the Westin Hapuna Beach Hotel, a short drive either direction.

Nearby
Hapuna Beach Park is a mile off, a long crescent of white sand wide enough to absorb a crowd. The Mauna Kea Resort hotels and the Hapuna Golf Course clubhouse are within two miles, and Waimea sits up the hill inland for cooler air and a farmers market. Kona International Airport (KOA) handles arrivals from the south. The bluff itself stays quiet, and on clear days Maui shows across the channel.
