Guests say the same thing every time: the photos just don't do it justice. Perched at the very top of Chalet Village with panoramic Smoky Mountain views that stretch endlessly, welcome to Big Daddy's Window House. This four-story chalet is where big groups come to experience the majesty of the Smoky Mountains. 18 guests, a private hot tub above the clouds, a game room, a movie room, a double-sided fireplace, a PRIVATE ELEVATOR, and jaw-dropping views. This is the property you were looking for.
Main Level
Step inside to soaring vaulted ceilings, warm wood finishes, and a spectacular double-sided floor-to-ceiling propane fireplace that anchors the living room and immediately sets the tone, this is not your average Smoky Mountain stay. Large windows frame the mountain views from every angle, keeping the ridgeline visible no matter where you're sitting. The chef's kitchen is a genuine showpiece, stainless steel appliances, ample counter space, and every tool and dish you'd need to cook real meals for eighteen guests without stress. The enormous dining table is the social centerpiece of the whole property, guest after guest mentions it by name, and it's easy to see why. Seats everyone. Every single person at one table. That almost never happens at this bedroom count and it makes every shared meal here feel like a genuine occasion.
The Sunroom
Tucked on the second floor, the sunroom is one of those spaces you discover on the first morning and never want to leave, bathed in natural light, quiet, and perfectly positioned for slow mornings with coffee and a book while the mountains glow outside.
The Game Room & Movie Room
The lower level is built entirely around fun. The game room is fully loaded — arcade, darts, air hockey, and ping pong, with enough space for multiple games going at once and the energy of a group that genuinely cannot decide when to stop. Just up the stairs, the cozy movie room offers a massive flat-screen TV and a big comfortable couch for the nights when the competition gives way to something a little more relaxed. Between these two spaces, nobody in the group ever has nothing to do.
Sleeping & Layout
Five bedrooms across four levels give this chalet the flexibility to sleep eighteen comfortably, couples, families, and multi-generational groups all find their rhythm here because every level has its own energy and its own space.
Bedroom 1 · Upper Level — Queen daybed with queen trundle, sleeps 4, full bath with stand-up shower
Bedroom 2 · Mid Level — King bed, attached full bath with tub/shower combo, flat screen TV
Bedroom 3 · Mid Level — King bed, attached full bath with tub/shower combo, flat screen TV
Bedroom 4 · Lower Level — Queen-over-queen bunk plus twin trundle, sleeps 5, full bath with stand-up shower
Bedroom 5 · Main Level — Twin bed, adjacent half bath
Living Room — Queen sleeper sofa
Movie Room — Queen sleeper sofa
Bathrooms — 4 full baths plus a half bath across all four levels
The Elevator
It sounds like a minor detail until you're carrying luggage up four floors with grandparents in the group, and then it becomes the amenity everyone is most grateful for. Guest after guest mentions the elevator unprompted. It makes this property genuinely accessible for guests of all ages and abilities in a way that almost no other large-group Smoky Mountain chalet can claim.
Outdoor Living
The deck is where this property becomes legendary. A private hot tub waits above the Smoky Mountain canopy, step in, lean back, and let the ridgeline stretch out in front of you as the sky changes color above the treetops. Guests describe soaking in the hot tub on a cool fall evening as one of the best moments of their trip. Multiple deck levels give the whole group outdoor space at every floor, and the views from every vantage point are exactly what guests mean when they say no photo does this place justice.
Getting Around
Ober Gatlinburg is just 1.8 miles away, you can see the ski slopes, mountain coasters, and aerial tramway rides from the deck! Downtown Gatlinburg, Ripley's Aquarium, Ole Smoky, Anakeesta, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance are all within a few miles. Pigeon Forge and Dollywood are about 15-20 minutes down the mountain. Note that the roads to Chalet Village are winding mountain roads, perfectly manageable, and worth every curve for the view waiting at the top.
This is the Smoky Mountain chalet that guests book for the big trips, the reunions, the milestone birthdays, the holiday gatherings where everyone needs to be under one roof and nothing about the stay should feel like a compromise. Eighteen guests. Five stars. Views that don't quit. Book it before someone else does.
