THINGS TO KNOW:
There is limited cell phone coverage when traveling on Highway 97/Blewett Pass and at the home. Verizon has little coverage; other service providers are extremely limited or not available. It is strongly recommended you enable Wi-Fi calling when you arrive at the home.
Guests should download driving maps offline prior to traveling to the home. Additional driving instructions and photos will be sent to guests the day of check-in to help navigate to the home.
"Off Grid" Water Source: This home is supplied by a unique creek-fed well system rather than a traditional deep groundwater well. The water is filtered, softened, and safe for drinking; however, because it originates from surface water in the surrounding forested watershed, natural variations in mineral content, color, taste, and odor can occur, especially following rainfall. You may notice a slight yellow tint to the water, which is caused by naturally occurring iron—a common mineral found in private well systems. Iron is not known to pose health risks but can contribute to a metallic taste, and seasonal changes in the watershed may occasionally affect the water's appearance or odor. Local well professionals have confirmed these characteristics are normal for this water source.
Because this home is located in the Cascade Mountains, wildlife sightings are expected and part of the mountain experience. Guests commonly see deer, wild turkeys, squirrels, and other small wildlife, and occasional sightings of black bears, coyotes, and cougars can occur—typically during evening or nighttime hours. Please help us keep wildlife wild by not leaving food or garbage outdoors and keeping dogs leashed while outside. Bear sightings are possible and they love trash!
DECEMBER THROUGH MARCH
Access to this home during winter requires serious preparation. Getting to the home from Highway 97 is 1.5 miles long, and the final approach to the house is steep. Please note that the driveway will only be plowed when snowfall exceeds 4 inches.
Because of this, the following are mandatory for all winter guests:
❄️ All-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicles with clearance
❄️ Tire chains (must be carried in your vehicle per WA state law, under RCW 46 37 420)
❄️ Highly recommended: sand or kitty litter and a shovel for traction in case of ice
If you are unable to drive up to the home, you may park at the barn garage and walk the remainder of the way. We will provide a shovel and sand that can be found in the barn garage.
Please understand that snow conditions and the snowplow’s schedule may impact your ability to keep fixed-time reservations or appointments. We strongly recommend planning your trip with flexibility, as road conditions can change quickly and directly affect travel times.
⚠️ Guests who request plowing service when snowfall has not exceeded 4 inches will incur a $300 charge.
