Ocean views from the living room, the primary bedroom, and the loft office, and a private hot tub on the side-yard deck — this modern two-bedroom home sits west of Highway 1 at Sea Ranch, about 1/2 mile from the coast. It sleeps 4: a king in the primary bedroom, two twin beds in the second. There are three full bathrooms, one with a soaking tub. Deer and quail show up at the wooded edge of the yard. The Lodge is about 1/2 mile away, Shell Beach about a mile, and Gualala about 5 miles north.

SeaRenity is a wood-sided modern home on the west side of Highway 1, about 1/2 mile from the coast, with the ocean in view from the main rooms.

The main level is one open room, and large windows look out to the ocean. The dining table sits at the window with the ocean beyond it. The kitchen opens to the room over a breakfast bar — dishwasher, oven and stove, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, blender, toaster, rice maker — so whoever is cooking stays in the conversation. The living side has a couch and a TV.

A spiral staircase leads up to the loft office, which has a desk and an ocean view. It is a workspace, not a third bedroom. A telescope stands in the study nook.

The primary bedroom has a king bed and large windows with an ocean view. The second bedroom has two twin beds. There are three full bathrooms — one with a soaking tub, one with a walk-in shower. A washer and dryer sit in a laundry nook with a small desk beside them.

Outside, the private hot tub sits on the side-yard deck, the spot for watching the sunset. The deck also holds seating, an outdoor dining table, and a gas grill. Past the deck is a yard with a wooded edge where deer, rabbits, and California quail show up.

The wood stove in the living room is not operational. The house has heating; it does not have a working fire.

Sea Ranch is a dark-sky community, so there is very little exterior lighting. Bring a flashlight for evening walks, then turn it off and look up.

Gray whales pass December through April. Wildflowers bloom April through June: lupine, poppies, iris. Summer mornings are often foggy, and it usually lifts by midday.

Cell service is spotty along this coast. The house has WiFi. 2-night minimum.
