About the property

Located just two blocks south of University Avenue, Hillcrest's main drag, this home is within walking distance of restaurants and cafés, yet tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac. Originally built in 1905, the property was converted into a medical office in 1979 by the owner’s father, a dermatologist. After his retirement, the family lovingly renovated the space to return it to its original use as a residence.

The entire second story of the home is reserved exclusively for Airbnb guests, offering a spacious and private retreat filled with character. Sunlight streams through the windows, illuminating the home’s many vintage details — from the original retro pink tile bathroom to the beautifully preserved wallpaper that adds a nostalgic touch of personality and charm.

This space is perfect for guests who appreciate a stay that feels unique and storied, rather than cookie-cutter. Thoughtful updates blend seamlessly with these original features, including quality furniture and furnishings chosen for both comfort and style. A private patio offers a quiet spot to sip coffee or unwind in the evenings, while a full kitchen provides everything needed for home-cooked meals.

You will also enjoy the convenience of on-site parking, a rare find in this vibrant neighborhood, making it easy to explore Hillcrest and beyond while having a comfortable, distinctive home to return to at the end of the day.

There is a well-lit private entrance and exit, a private staircase which leads up to the second floor guest suite. Guests will be able to access a parking space in the adjoining parking lot.

Hillcrest is amazing. I grew up in La Jolla, and it's very beautiful there, but Hillcrest has a special vibe and central location. Hillcrest is really a perfect place to position oneself to get the most out of seeing San Diego.

Walkable neighborhood. A bus stop is one block away. Lyfts/Ubers usually show up in a few minutes. Scooters generally available in the area.

The washer and dryer are shared with the downstairs unit
