Here are some things which you should know before booking Wander Big Bend
Cell phone service availability and quality in the desert varies by service provider. You can expect a solid 3G signal at Wander Big Bend for most providers while some offer 4G signal - it depends on the carrier as cell phone towers and fiber optic lines are being brought to the region daily. Keep in mind cell phone signal can be sparse or non-existent in remote areas of the national and state parks.
Wander Big Bend is completely off-grid. Getting here requires a 4WD truck or SUV for road access, so please plan ahead and keep a close watch on the weather as it can change rapidly.
After rains, the dirt roads can become muddy and potentially impassable until dried out over 24 hours, so please keep this in mind.
When crossing the Long Draw Creek, be aware of flash floods, and view the weather forecast for your stay. Do not try to pass the draw if water is flowing, and wait out the storms for 24 hours if possible to let the roads dry before attempting to arrive or depart from the property. Bringing a spare tire and tools to change a tire is highly recommended as there are lots of sharp objects in the desert.
For your safety, please try to admire the land around the property from the main designated guest areas. The desert is an extremely fragile environment so please do not disturb it.
Please do not approach the cliff edge itself - there are many cracks in the limestone shelf and loose rock that could cause the rock to sheer or someone to fall. Please carefully admire the view from the deck only.
Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM. At 10:00 PM, you will need to take your conversation indoors and turn off exterior deck lighting and the side patio string lights to protect our dark skies.
No drones of any kind unless given owner permission and official flight path information logged. Neighbors and other desert animals are keen on their privacy.
This home and its location contain features that may be difficult for children and the elderly - including metal ladders, sharp objects in the desert, and concrete floors. In terms of car accessibility, 4WD or an SUV is required.
This home follows a strict maximum occupancy rule. Please make sure that the total number of guests accompanying you (including both children and adults) doesn’t exceed the indicated maximum occupancy above to avoid cancellation of your stay and additional fees.
This is a pet-free hypoallergenic space. No pets are allowed inside the home to maintain a hypoallergenic area as much as possible for our guests’ comfort.
