Bodega Shoals

Absolutely beautiful 2023 restoration of this Bodega Bay house originally built in 1918. We stayed for three nights enjoying great, local Sonoma Coast Pinot (Hirsch, Flowers, Fort Ross), locally farmed oysters (Hog Island), and live Dungeness crab from Bodega Harbor (Paisano Brothers), and could’ve easily stayed here for a week or longer. The chef’s kitchen is fabulous (including the outdoor BBQ and sink area), the rooms are spacious, the bedding phenomenal, the smart-toilets are essential, the hot-tub and warmed seating on the deck are classy, and the views are just non-stop. We’ve done a lot of trips to Bodega Bay throughout the decades, and really nothing can compare to this property. It may be a considered a little bit pricey to some people, but it was well worth it for us. Just a few minor things they need to address: * Lighting. The current lighting setup throughout the house gives a great, warm ambiance, but in the chef’s kitchen, they really need to add an extra light that is much brighter to use when cooking. The bathrooms needed a brighter light to do make-up/hair, and a recessed light installed in the shower/toilet section, as it’s pretty dark in there. * The house could also benefit with one full-length mirror somewhere (if there was one, we couldn’t find it). * A great setup is already there for mixing cocktails, except for one item; there is no hand juicer for limes and lemons. * With fresh oysters locally abundant in the Bodega Bay area, a shucker knife would’ve been a great asset to stock in the kitchen. * Lastly, some of the passive door strikes on the French doors leading outside don’t quite catch the receiver hole in the bottom of the door frame, so if someone really wanted to push their way into the house, even with them “locked” they could. Outside of those minor thoughts, we’d definitely love to visit this house again. 9/10 score.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a last-minute trip decision and boy did we find a gem! This home plays like a five-star resort suite with comphy robes and slippers and fluffy towels and stocked bathroom amenities. The bed was as comfortable as ours at home with great pillows and stuffed duvet. They even had a Casper dog bed; same as the one we brought, but next time we won’t pack ours!!! And thanks for the thoughtful treat selections; healthy options and lots of them! The view was spectacular being just 100 yards from the water. The little writers house was so cute with a great selection of books. My husband sat out there and wrote while me and the dog hiked along the cliff at the edge of town. The location couldn’t be better with restaurants within walking distance and the golf course minutes away. We seriously wanted to move to this place! The architecture and finishes are perfectly appointed and the kitchen is a chef’s dream. We will definitely be back to stay longer next time!

We had an amazing stay at Wander Bodega Shoals! The home is absolutely beautiful — spacious, spotless, and perfectly designed for a relaxing getaway. The floor-to-ceiling windows, ocean views, cozy fireplace, and hot tub made it feel like a true coastal retreat. Wander’s 24/7 support team was fantastic, responding almost instantly whenever we had a question. My family and I loved everything about this property and can’t wait to come back!
