Whispering Pines is located in the popular vacation destination of Margaretville, NY in Delaware County. Nearby towns include Roxbury, Arkville, Andes, Bovina Center, Pine Hill and Woodstock.
This is a true 4 season area. In the winter ski or snowboard at Belleayre Ski Center (11.6 miles), Plattekill Mountain (10.2 miles), Hunter Mountain (36.4 miles) and Windham (31.9 miles).
Spring is fishing season and there are plenty of public fishing streams and lakes in the area for a sportsman. Watch nature come back to life as the tree's and flowers begin to blossom.
Summer there is so much to do, something for everyone in your group. Hiking, biking, boating, antiquing, farmers markets, fairs and more. There are numerous wedding and party venues in the area (distances listed below) as well.
Fall is the place to be in the Catskills. Farmers Markets are bursting with bounty, pumpkin and apple picking, fall festivals and leaf peeping. Days are sunny and the air crisp, you will fall in love!

A vehicle is necessary when traveling in this area. There are no taxis and limited transportation services.
Winter weather can be mercurial. Check the weather report for this area and plan your travel accordingly. Snow plows do not operate on secondary roads between 8PM and 5AM. 4WD or AWD vehicles are recommended October through April when snow is likely. Tires should have good TREAD. Even a 4WD vehicle will not operate safely in the snow if the tires are bald or not made for all-weather driving. If you are not sure if your tires are in good enough shape for mountain driving in the snow, take it to a mechanic before traveling.
If you are unfamiliar with driving in the snow, particularly uphill, search online for tips. Sites like AAA have good information. The driveway is plowed and shoveled to the entrance. The driveway is plowed every several inches of fallen snow but if it is snowing, there may still be snow on the driveway. A shovel is provided, please keep the walkway maintained during your stay.
