The Moonshine is on a 2 acre lot with plenty of free parking. The local tubing outfitters offer transportation to/from the home if a full tubing trip if desired, or you can walk around 250 steps to Mager's Crossing, our favorite public access point on the Frio River where you can hang out in the river without doing a full tubing trip.
Mager’s Crossing is a wet road crossing and it is normal for there to be a few inches of water over the road year-round. If you are not comfortable driving through the water, take CR 350/Old Leakey Road from Hwy 83 (not from 1050) when driving to the Moonshine or Mager’s Crossing.
In the Hill Country, cell phone service, GPS, and phone data are very limited, especially if you do not have AT&T or Verizon. Please print address, driving directions, the door access code, the alarm code, and host contact information before you leave for your trip. Once you arrive, you can either use this opportunity to unplug and unwind, or stay connected with Wifi Calling and the high-speed internet.
The private pool and hot tub are available year-round. Swim at your own risk. Heating the entire pool is an additional $150 per night. The hot tub heating is free, but please note that it takes a few hours to heat up. Pool/hot tub heating may not be available in near-freezing temperatures. Let us know before your trip if you would like us to preheat the hot tub or heat the pool.
Contact us before booking if you would like to schedule a photo shoot or event. No commercial photography, videography, weddings, events, or parties without written permission from host. Fees may apply.
No guests beyond those included on the reservation are allowed on the property at any time without written permission from host.
Within 48 hours of booking, guests must review & sign our rental agreement, send a copy of their ID, and schedule a $1000 security deposit hold on their credit card. See rental agreement for additional rules and disclosures.
For security and liability reasons, we have a Ring doorbell camera by the front door and 4 exterior motion-detected security cameras that record video and audio and cover the front, side, and rear/pool/firepit areas of the home. No covering, disconnecting, or tampering with security devices. There are no security cameras inside the home or that record the inside of the home.
We have floating stairs, balconies, a pool, a firepit, and no baby-proofing items, which makes this home not a good fit for babies and toddlers.
We love interior design, and are constantly trying to improve the Moonshine experience. While we try to update photos often, photos may not show the most recent upgrades. Let us know if you would like us to send updated photos before your stay.
