I have stayed here overnight. There is no other home on this coast where the architecture is so deliberately organized around the Pacific it is the DNA of the place, not a feature of it. The floor-to-ceiling glass, the 25-meter pool aligned to the horizon, the way the light moves through the rooms at first light. It is rare to experience firsthand.

The home holds a group better than almost anything in the collection. The elevator is more than a convenience; it handles travel-weary toddlers, luggage, and a trunk full of Costco groceries from the garage to the main level. A second kitchenette means the early risers can make coffee without waking the house. The ten-seat theater works for the kids and for watching a concert film like you are front row at the venue it was filmed in. And the bocce court on the lawn gives everyone a reason to be outside after dinner.

LIVING AND DINING The main living space runs the full width of the home behind a wall of glass that opens to the lanai. The dining table seats 12 indoors. Outside, a covered dining table seats 10 with plush lounge seating for at least 10 more; the spot where most groups end up for meals when the conditions are what they usually are on this coast. The ping-pong lounge and ten-seat theater give everyone somewhere to go when the group wants to spread out.

CHEF-READY KITCHEN A wide island with bar seating for four anchors the room. Appliances include a Wolf range, dual Sub-Zero refrigerators, Sub-Zero wine fridge, and a full suite of small appliances. A second kitchenette adjacent to Bedroom 4 handles early mornings and late-night snacks. The Lynx gas BBQ and Lynx gas pizza oven are on the lanai for cooking outside.

OUTDOOR OASIS The 25-meter infinity pool anchors the property, long enough to swim laps, with an acrylic panel at the ocean end so the pool and the Pacific read as one surface. The lanai stretches 3,415 square feet under cover: dining for 10, lounge seating for 10 more, and a built-in outdoor kitchen with a Lynx gas pizza oven. A regulation bocce ball court sits on the lawn with a full set. Four single-person kayaks and snorkel sets are available. The lava shelf below holds tide pools at low tide, turtles are common from the deck, and Puako's night sky rewards stargazers with the Milky Way.

LOCATED NEARBY Puako is one of the few residential communities on the Kohala Coast that has remained genuinely quiet: a two-mile beach road with no resorts and no through-traffic, bordered by the ocean on one side and ancient anchialine ponds on the other. Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea Beach are essentially across the street, ten minutes away; two of the finest stretches of sand on the island, with world-class golf, dining, and shopping at both resort areas. The reef just offshore holds some of the island's best snorkeling. Waipi'o Valley, Pololu, and Akaka Falls are about an hour away. The airport is 30 minutes south. You can reach every corner of the island from here and come back to the quiet every evening.
