The Sonoma Glass House
Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California
3 Bedrooms · 3.5 Bathrooms · Sleeps 8 · 2,921 sq ft · 10 Private Acres
SF Design Week 2026 Design Award Recipient · Residential Architecture
Some houses have views. The Sonoma Glass House is one.
Set on 10 private acres in the mountains above Sonoma wine country, this award-recognized architectural residence was built around a single principle: that nature is not a backdrop but a material. Every room is in constant, intimate dialogue with the landscape surrounding it -- and no two encounters with it are the same.
Floor-to-ceiling glass on nearly every wall pulls the landscape inside -- the oak-studded hills, the valley below, the light shifting hour by hour. The house moves with the natural grade of the hillside terrain, tiered and unhurried, settling into the land rather than sitting on top of it.
Wake up to morning light flooding through east-facing bedrooms tucked against mature oaks. Gather in the open-plan kitchen and living area -- anchored by a statement fireplace and wrapped in glass on three sides -- before spilling out onto the dining deck or coffee terrace with views of the valley below. Downstairs, the pool terrace is where days are spent -- a custom pool and hot tub, outdoor fireplace, fire pit, and al fresco dining all embedded into the hillside. And in the primary suite, a freestanding soaking tub faces a valley framed by low morning clouds -- a view so quietly extraordinary it resets the experience of an ordinary morning.
The Spaces
3 king bedrooms, each with floor-to-ceiling glass and direct landscape views. Primary ensuite with freestanding soaking tub, walk-in shower, and valley views. Dedicated office with queen sofa sleeper. 3.5 bathrooms. Open-plan chef's kitchen with professional range, wine cooler, and full equipment. Media lounge. Private gym with exercise bike, weight rack, and yoga mats. In-unit washer and dryer. Covered 3-car carport with additional parking on site.
Outdoor Living
Pool and hot tub. Outdoor fire pit. Multiple balconies and terraces. Al fresco dining deck with retractable shade canopy. A secluded outdoor deck nestled in the landscape -- ideal for morning yoga, meditation, or quiet reflection. BBQ area with full utensils. Forest and panoramic valley views across 10 protected private acres.
The Location
Tucked within a private gated community in the Sonoma hills -- serene, secluded, and minutes from world-class wine country. Calistoga, Healdsburg, and the celebrated vineyards of Sonoma and Napa are all within easy reach. Sonoma County Airport offers convenient regional access.

Getting Around: While a car is recommended to fully experience the beauty of Wine Country, here's how to navigate the area. Public transportation options are limited, so consider ride-sharing services or our private transportation options (11-passenger van or 6-passenger Cadillac Escalade) for wine tours and airport transfers. For those driving, ample free parking is available on the property. The Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport (STS) is approximately a 20-minute drive, and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is about a 1 hour and 45-minute drive. Please note that traffic can vary, especially during peak season. We are happy to help arrange transportation during your stay.
Cell service in this area is limited -- we recommend saving your directions, WiFi password, and access code before leaving home. Wildlife is part of the terrain, including the occasional snake or mountain lion. That's the nature of being genuinely in it.
The pool is open April through late November. Heating is available for $200 per day and must be requested at least 4 days prior to arrival. The pool is serviced weekly on Tuesdays.
Pets are welcome with a $400 fee per stay. Please keep them leashed at all times when outdoors, never leave them unattended on the property, and keep them off furniture and beds.
Quiet hours are observed from 9PM to 7AM. Events and parties are not permitted. Maximum 4 vehicles on property at any time. No direct access to vineyards, lakes, or hiking trails from the property. Exterior security cameras on premises for guest safety.
The Sonoma Glass House is one of a rare category of homes where architecture and hospitality converge -- designed not just to be stayed in, but to be fully experienced.
