Chalet Couloir (pronounced “koo-lwar”) is a beautifully renovated home with loads of natural light, stylish furnishings, and gorgeous views looking right up to the ski mountain. A couloir, for those of you curious, is a French word for a long, narrow chute with rocks on either side that in the winter is filled with snow, and where you may find extreme skiers making hair-raising turns.
Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, this four-bedroom residence is a short 5-minute drive to the ski resort and has easy connections to a network of biking and walking trails.
The multi-level duplex has an abundance of space for guests to spread out and enjoy their own pockets of privacy while still having the perfect gathering spot on the main level in an inviting great room, dining area, and kitchen. This open area is made for entertaining and relaxing. Enjoy the warmth from the towering stone gas fireplace that is the centerpiece of the living area. A striking chandelier hangs like a piece of suspended art over the dining table that seats 10. In addition, there are four stools at the kitchen counter, perfect for a quick breakfast or to chat with the chef at work.
Chefs will enjoy preparing meals in the well-equipped gourmet kitchen, which boasts new appliances, abundant counter space, and beautiful wood cabinetry. In summer, carry those dishes outdoors for al fresco dining on the deck, with a table for six, a gas grill and views that create a perfect setting for a memorable meal.
Also on this main level is a luxurious primary suite with a king bed, a cozy sitting area and its own private deck with a small table and two chairs, a perfect oasis for sipping morning coffee and relishing your surroundings.
Head down to the lower level where the kids in your group will want to hang out. The bunk room sleeps four on twin beds and features a fun mountain mural in a play area. A separate bathroom has a tub with a shower. And then there’s fun for all in the family room with a sofa large enough for everyone to curl up on to watch a movie on the big screen TV. Or for some friendly competition, there’s an Xbox and air hockey table. This space leads out to a patio with a hot tub for relaxing and soothing those sore muscles after a day of outdoor adventure. A large yard adds additional space for the kids to play.
For those seeking some solitude for reading or working, escape to the upper-level loft area with a desk and sitting area overlooking the great room below and out to the same beautiful views of the mountain. Two bright, generously sized king bedrooms are also on this level. Each with its own ensuite bath with a shower.
Chalet Couloir is the perfect mountain getaway for families, with welcoming spaces to come together indoors and easy access to all the outdoor activities that Steamboat has to offer year-round.
