Wolftrap Lake Anna sits in the Lighthouse Point subdivision on the warm side of Lake Anna — and that distinction matters. Unlike the public cold side of the lake, the warm side is an entirely private, residential community. No crowded public ramps, no day-trippers — just neighbors, nature, and 13,000 acres of stunning reservoir at your doorstep.
The warm side stays swimmable well into October and warms back up as early as April, thanks to thermal discharge from the nearby North Anna Power Station. It's one of the most unique lake experiences in Virginia, and most people don't even know it exists.
The lake itself is the main attraction — deep, clear water perfect for fishing, tubing, wakeboarding, paddleboarding, and long afternoon floats. The warm side's coves are quiet and uncrowded, with the kind of peace you'd expect from a much more remote destination.
The surrounding area has more going on than you'd expect. Mineral, the county seat of Louisa County, is about 15 minutes away with grocery stores, local shops, and restaurants. The Lake Anna dining scene punches well above its weight — waterfront spots, a farm-to-table orchard restaurant, Italian, Mexican, and craft beer are all within a short drive.
For anglers, Lake Anna is legendary — trophy largemouth bass, striped bass, hybrid stripers, and crappie all thrive here, especially on the warm side where fish stay active longer into the season.
The overall vibe is relaxed, unpretentious, and genuinely beautiful. Loud boats and busy boardwalks are on the other side of the lake. Over here, it's quiet mornings on the water and golden evenings on the dock.

A car is essential. Wolftrap Lake Anna is a rural lakefront property in Louisa County — there is no public transportation, rideshare availability is extremely limited, and nothing is within walking distance. Plan to drive everywhere.

Stock up before you arrive. The nearest grocery store (Food Lion) and Virginia ABC liquor store are about 15 minutes away in Mineral. Elk Creek Country Store is closer and great for quick runs — gas, beer, wine, deli, and bait. We recommend loading up on the way in so you can spend more time on the water and less time in the car.

On the lake, your dock is your gateway. Swimming, fishing, and relaxing on the water are all right outside the back door. Just keep in mind that the warm side and cold side of Lake Anna are separated by a dam — there is no boat travel between the two sides, so all restaurants and destinations are reached by car, not by boat.

Restaurants and dining are 10–20 minutes away by car. Most are in Mineral or along the Route 522 corridor. Always call ahead — hours vary seasonally.
