Description: Set against the beautiful backdrop of Wander Joshua Tree, this one-and-a-half-hour workshop aims to help you get in touch with multiple parts of your creative side. In the writing portion of the workshop, we'll draw inspiration from the desert landscape and its metaphors and work on translating our abstract ideas into concrete terms. We'll then explore watercolor techniques and create our own desert landscape paintings, and eventually combine the two mediums for a special memento from your stay. 

Details: This workshop is inspired by Alex's popular poetry and painting project, Desert Minis. The workshop includes all materials as well as a selection of wine and/or kombucha from local purveyors. 

Sunset Meditative Painting

Location: Wander Joshua Tree

Length: 2 hours

Description: Get in touch with your desert muse during this two-hour workshop at Wander Joshua Tree. Local artist and teacher Alex Maceda will guide you through a sunset meditation experience, where you'll get in touch with the sights, sounds, and colors of the desert landscape. Using the meditation as inspiration, Alex will then guide you through an acrylic painting workshop where you'll learn how to create an abstract desert landscape of your own. 

Details: The workshop includes all materials as well as a selection of wine and/or kombucha from local purveyors. All participants will leave with a 9" x 12" or similarly sized painted canvas of their own.
