Winter and Big Sky go together very well as the western paradise is known for its world class skiing. But, there are other things to enjoy during the summer months like riding a sleigh, fat biking and even dogsledding. Read on for more details!

Book a Sleigh Ride

For that extra holiday magic, we definitely suggest booking a sleigh ride. There are quite a few companies that facilitate this experience like 320 Guest Ranch whose sleigh ride ends at a campfire filled with snacks, hot beverages and ranch stories; or Cache Creek Outfitters that has heated sleighs for the coziest ride up the mountain to enjoy an appetizing meal in a dining hall or the legendary Lone Mountain Ranch where you can enjoy dinner at an oil-lit cabin while entertained by cowboy storytellers to give you that true old west atmosphere Big Sky is known for.

This is fun for the entire family and an easy winter tradition to make!

Fat Biking

Taking on these Big Sky trails in the winter can be tricky, but not impossible in the slightest! For the bikers visiting the area during the winter months, fat biking will be your best friend during your stay. With as many trails as Big Sky has, you’ll never run out of fun to have. Remember to keep safe by wearing warm winter boots and clothing as well as gloves or mitts comfortable enough for you to change gears. In addition to the warm clothes, padded ones will make your time biking on the rugged paths a more pleasant experience. Don’t forget to protect your head with a  helmet and a thin hat or a headband to keep yourself warm on the trails. But most of all, don’t forget to hydrate with some water and have fun!

Dogsledding

If you’re a fan of Snow Dogs, chances are you wanted to learn dogsledding since the movie dropped in 2002; and your trip to Wander Big Sky Basin is your chance to learn! With the guiding hand of expert instructors from companies like Spirit of the North Dog Sledding and Lone Mountain Ranch, you’ll become a snow sledding champion in no time just like Ted Brooks (without all the misadventures, of course).

Wintertime in Big Sky means opportunities for more unique adventures. Take the chance and try something new this season.
