Every year, winter sports enthusiasts eagerly await the kick off of ski and snowboard season in Colorado’s ski towns. Most ski resorts are open from mid-November through early-April, with some flexibility on either end depending on seasonal conditions.

During this time, you'll find the most frequent (and probably most pricey) flights to the area. However, Colorado, and Vail in particular, have a ton of activities to offer year-round.

Air Travel (EGE)

Eagle County Airport (EGE)

Distance from Wander Vail Valley: 32.9 miles

Details: During the winter season, American, Delta and United provide non-stop flights between EGE and fourteen major domestic cities, including Atlanta (ATL), Chicago (ORD), Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW), Denver (DEN), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), Newark (EWR), New York/Kennedy (JFK), New York/LaGuardia (LGA), Phoenix (PHX), Salt Lake City (SLC), and more.

Year round service includes daily non-stop flights between EGE and Dallas/Ft. Worth on American Airlines. United Airlines offers non-stop daily service to Denver.

Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE)

Distance from Wander Vail Valley: 96 miles 

Details: In the winter, ASE has over 170 weekly flights (not including extra flights that often run during busy holiday seasons). In addition to regular service from Denver, Aspen sees more than 20 flights a week from Chicago and Los Angeles.

Details: United Airlines provides year-round daily flight service between Yampa Valley Regional Airport and Denver International Airport. Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest, and Delta provide non-stop seasonal flights from mid-December through March from 10+ cities across the United States.
